Reflect shapes in the lines y = x and y = -x

Reflection is taking the mirror image of a shape, where the mirror line is called the line of symmetry.

The mirror line does not have to be horizontal or vertical, it can also be diagonal.

You can use tracing paper to help you draw the mirrored shape.

A quick tip for the new co-ordinates:

Reflection in the y=x swaps the x and y co-ordinates.

Reflection in the y=-x axis swaps the x and y co-ordinates and changes sign.

For example

(3,4) reflected in y=x gives (4,3)
(2,5) reflected in y=-x gives (-5,-2)

Draw this out and check this yourself!
